If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably on your own
fitness journey, or are at least thinking about it… Anyway, here’s what is
going on with my journey… Something is not right. I’m having some problems.
You know how, when you’re traveling and you’re not quite sure where you are
going, but you know you are lost? There are things you see that you don’t recognize.
There are things you’re not seeing that you thought you would’ve by now… You have that sinking feeling that you’ve made
a wrong turn somewhere, and you now have a choice:
1.
Keep on heading full-speed in the direction you’re
going and hope something will change, that all of a sudden, things will start
to look more promising… Maybe some sign that says “Welcome to Fitness: Stage 1, population,
2 abs.” Or maybe the lines of the landscape will start to appear a little more
defined, and less… well, roly poly.
Or…
2.
Pull over, get out the map, find the GPS on your
phone, hope there’s reception… try to remember the address, ask somebody, call
somebody, shake something up, do something different and basically get back on
the right track.
Seems simple enough… You could even try the first thing for
a bit and then switch tactics as often as needed. But wait! Here’s where it
gets interesting:
You suddenly become aware that you’ve been in the same place
for years!
How could
this have happened? But, now you realize this isn’t the first time… And now you start to remember all the times
you’ve had this same revelation before. Maybe you disregarded the revelation at
the time. After all, you might not have known how to deal with it, and it was easier
to
j u s t
k e e p g o i n g…
You asked someone for directions, maybe they
gave you some false information that sounded right, and they seemed convinced,
and the information worked for them, so this gave you just enough fuel to get a little farther down the road, only to take the same wrong turns and end
up in the same place AGAIN!
That’s kinda
where I am now, and I’m done lying about it.
How about
you?
Let’s just
start over, but this time let’s go back further than we ever have. We’re trying
to have physically fit bodies right? But for some reason we still don’t, and we’ve
tried! We’ve tried hard... but bagels still taste so good, and getting up in
the morning to exercise still feels so bad.
Ok, stay
with me… Maybe the problem is in our
brains… Make sense? Let me explain it
this way:
Every action
(or inaction) began with a thought. Where do thoughts happen?
Every
failure becomes a memory. Where are memories stored?
Starting to
make sense? How did you arrive at the answer to that question?
Basically
our bodies are controlled by our brains, so if our brains are toxic, this cannot
be healthy for our bodies, and will never be able to produce satisfying results
in our health and wellness… But the good
news is, our brains are controlled by our minds and if our mind can change, our
brain can change.
What does
this all mean? What’s the difference between our brain and our mind? To find
out the answer to these questions and so many more, be ready to…
RE-THINK
EVERYTHING!
Let me
introduce to you: Dr. Caroline Leaf – A neuro-scientist and author of the book, “Switch
on Your Brain,” and originator of the “21-Day Brain Detox.”
When I first
heard her speak, I began to realize I could stop lying to myself.
I want to
urge everyone to buy this book! I’m not selling it or anything, but check
Amazon. It’s only like 10 bucks or something. Read through it. The guide to the
21-day brain detox is included in the book. I’m working through the book right
now and getting ready to start the brain detox plan as a challenge group.
Check out my
Facebook page for Second Story Gym for updates. Let’s do this together! Let’s
start as soon as possible!
